Danapur Railway Division
Headquartered at Danapur, this division comes under the Eastern Central Railway Zone (ECR) of Indian Railways. Formed on 1 January 1925 initially under Eastern Indian Railway Company, it came under ECR zone on 1 October 2002. It is about 752 km in route length and includes 12 districts of Bihar and 2 districts of Uttar Pradesh (Ghazipur, Chandauli). Patna is the A-1 category station under this division. Other major Category A/B stations include Danapur, Ara, Bihiya, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Bakhtiyarpur, Mokama, Patna Sahib, Dildarnagar, Dumraon, Barh, Hathidah, Lakhisarai, Rajgir.
Samastipur Railway Division
Formed in 1969 and headquartered at Samastipur in the state of Bihar. First Railway station of ECR to be certified the ISO certification.
Samastipur and Darbhanga are A-1 category stations in this division.
Other major stations include: Narkatiaganj, Bettiah, Madhubani, Jaynagar, Saharsa, Bapudham Motihari, Raxaul, Sahauli, Sitamarhi.
Sonpur Railway Division
Established on 21 October 1978, this division is spread over the north side of holy river Ganges and west side of Gandak river. The division routes over 495 km and traverses through 8 districts of Bihar, playing an important role in growth & development of the region. Muzaffarpur Junction is the A-1 category station. Other major stations include: Hajipur, Sonpur, Barauni, Khagaria, Dalsinghsarai, Begusarai, Naugachia.
Mughalsarai Railway Division
Officially known as Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar Railway Division. Formed on November 5 1951, it is headquartered at what is formerly known as Mughalsarai. One of the busiest stations in terms of passenger footfall, this stations holds most stoppages for Rajdhani Express in India. Mughalsarai, or Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar and Gaya are the A-1 Category stations in this division. Other major Railway stations include: Sasaram, Anugraha Narayan Road, Dehri-on Sone, Bhabua Road.
Dhanbad Railway Division
One of the 5 divisions of the Eastern Central Railway Zone (ECR) of Indian Railways.
It contributes the highest revenue among all the divisions in Indian Railways. Formed on November 5, 1951, and headquartered at Dhanbad in Jharkhand, it is also No.1 in coal loading in India. Category A-1 station: Dhanbad. Some other Category A/B stations include Koderma Junction. Daltonganj, Gomoh. Parasnath, Singrauli, Barkakana, Garwa Road, Renukoot, Chandrapura, Chopan.
